Titanium
Titanium is a light metal (4.5 g/cm³, 57 % of the weight of steel) with corrosion resistance superior to stainless in chlorides and oxidizers. Dustre supplies the commercially pure and alloy grades as bar, plate and forging, with certificate.

About titanium
The commercially pure grades (2 and 7) have the best corrosion resistance and are used in heat exchangers, seawater piping, chlor-alkali and pulp and paper; grade 7 contains palladium and resists reducing acids. The Ti-6Al-4V alloy (grade 5) is the most used structural grade, with the strength of steel at half the weight, in aerospace, implants and valves; grade 9 (Ti-3Al-2.5V) sits between the two.
Titanium requires care in machining (low conductivity, tendency to gall) and in welding (full argon shielding). Dustre forges, machines and welds titanium in-house.

Frequently asked questions
Titanium grade 2 or grade 5?
Grade 2 for corrosion (chemicals, seawater, pulp), with moderate strength. Grade 5 for load: 895 MPa tensile strength, aerospace, implants and structural parts.
Is titanium more expensive than stainless?
Per kilogram, yes. Per part, it often pays off: it lasts longer in chlorides, weighs less and avoids replacement; and Dustre keeps domestic stock, with no import per order.
