Testing laboratory
Testing laboratory
We test the material and the parts in our laboratory in Osasco to prove they meet the standard and the order before shipping to the customer.
What we do
- PMI: alloy confirmation by chemical composition, part by part
- Tensile: yield strength, tensile strength and elongation
- Hardness: Brinell, Rockwell and Vickers
- Charpy impact, including at low temperature
- Surface roughness with profilometer (being implemented)
- Receiving inspection of imported material

Materials
Capacity, maximum dimensions and lead time on request: send the drawing. See alloys in stock.
Why test
In special alloys, a mixed-up material or a poorly done heat treatment only shows up in service, when the part fails. Testing proves, before shipment, that the alloy is right and that the properties meet the standard and the order. The results go on the part certificate, together with the mill data.
Tests available
PMI confirms the alloy by chemical composition, without damaging the part. The tensile test measures yield strength, tensile strength and elongation. Hardness confirms the heat treatment and standard limits, such as those of NACE MR0175. Charpy measures toughness, including at low temperature. Surface roughness measurement with a profilometer is being implemented.
Test coupons and traceability
Coupons are taken per the material standard (for example ASTM A370), from the same heat and the same heat treatment lot as the parts, when the specification requires. Each sample is identified so the result is linked to the right part.
What to send with a quote request
Send the alloy and standard, the type and number of tests, the test temperature (for Charpy) and whether the parts or material are yours or from our stock.

Frequently asked questions
Do the tests appear on the material certificate?
Yes. The results of tests performed in our laboratory can appear on the EN 10204 3.1 certificate of the part, together with the mill chemical analysis and properties, or in a separate report.
Do you test third-party material?
Yes, as long as the alloy and the reference standard are defined. Send the number of samples and the tests required.
Does Dustre perform this service on customer-supplied material?
Yes, as long as the alloy and the specification are defined. We can also supply the material from our stock, with EN 10204 3.1 certificate.
