Materials welded with ERNiCrMo-7
Why the composition differs from the base metal
It follows the chemistry of C-4, but with carbon and silicon as low as possible and no significant tungsten. The idea is the same as in the base metal: remove the elements that form carbides and intermetallic phases, so that the bead stays stable even after exposure to high temperatures.
Welding precautions
- No preheating; interpass below 100–150 °C.
- Low heat input and narrow beads.
- TIG with pure argon or argon-helium; argon root purge. Rigorous cleaning: oil, paint and markers contaminate the nickel alloy with sulfur and lead.
