Materials welded with ERNiCrMo-10

- Hastelloy C-276
- Inconel 625 / Alloy 625
- 254 SMO / F44
- Super duplex 2507 / F53 / S32750
- Super duplex Zeron 100 / F55 / S32760
Dissimilar joints: A good choice for joints between different Ni-Cr-Mo alloys and between those alloys and stainless, since the higher chromium tolerates dilution with iron well.
Why the composition differs from the base metal
For alloy C-22 itself the chemistry is practically identical, with very low carbon and silicon. On C-276 and super-austenitics it serves as over-alloyed metal: 21 % chromium and 13 % molybdenum give the bead corrosion resistance equal to or higher than the base metal even after segregation.
Welding precautions
- No preheating; interpass below 100–150 °C.
- Low heat input; avoid repeatedly reheating the same region.
- TIG with pure argon or argon-helium; argon root purge. Rigorous cleaning: oil, paint and markers contaminate the nickel alloy with sulfur and lead.
